DIVE TO TITANIC, SEE TITANIC, EXPEDITION TITANIC

Imagine… dive to the bottom of the ocean to see the magnificent RMS Titanic. This unique and exclusive expedition will let you enjoy as many as 7 dives to see the superb vessel. Each dive will get you to nearly 13,000 feet, facing the bow of RMS Titanic. Relive this unique and dramatic day of April 1912, as the sea was unusually quiet, under a moonless sky, when Frederick Fleet first saw the iceberg…

Course of the experience Dive to Titanic

This expedition takes place over 13 days.

Day 1: arrival at St John, Newfoundland. Night at St John.
Day 2: On board the Akademik Keldysh, the expedition ship.
Day 3: en route to the diving site.
Day 4 to day 10: dives to Titanic with scientists.
Day 11: depart for St John
Day 12: en route to St John
Day 13: Arrival at St John. End of expedition.

After a final briefing, you enter the submarine which will be then craned into the water. Ballasts are tested then the dive can start… You will dive in one of the MIR submarines. Especially designed to sustain the enormous pressure of the depth, these submarines can carry one pilot and two passengers. The internal pressure remains constant at one atmosphere. Gradually during the dive, temperature will drop. This will cause a bit of internal condensation. Your dive will last between 11h and 12h. You will keep in mind the images of RMS TITANIC for the rest of your life. The lights on the submarine will allow you to clearly see the bow of the ship, but also the propellers, engine rooms, the main bridge and the famous grand staircase. This extraordinary dive will get you to relive the dramatic and epic journey Titanic, one of the most emblematic ships of all times.

A few figures :

Speed of descent : 100 feet (31m) per minute
The window of the submarine is 18cm thick to protect the passengers from the outside pressure.
Rays of the sun stop penetrating the water from 250m deep. You will then be in total darkness. To maintain the most power, descent will continue in darkness, and the pilot will open the lights from time to time to admire marine life in the depths of the sea. You will also be able to see bioluminescent creatures which live at the high depths.
At 3000 feet (950m), temperature will start to drop in the submarine.
You will see the bow of RMS Titanic at 12,465 feet (3.800m) deep.
Duration of the dive: 11h to 12h

A bit of history :

1912… a few months after the foundation of the Republic China and the death of writer Rudyard Kipling, some 3,547 passengers are ready to cross the Atlantic in search of a better world. RMS Titanic, the new flagship of the White Star leaves Southampton on the 10th April 1912 to enter History. The night of the 14th of April, the sea is unusually calm under a moonless sky. Suddenly, Frederick Fleet spots an iceberg… only too late. 1.500 people lost their lives. After many years of searching and exploring, Dr Robert Ballard finally found the wreck of RMS Titanic in 1986. Since then, many expeditions have been organized in submarines to gather data and artifacts. Thousands of objects have been surfaced all these years and now each dive is strictly regulated and the focus of each dive is placed on scientific research.
