Enjoy a wine tasting experience in Lyon, France. Spend the day learning about wine with a sommelier. In the heart of Lyon, in the superb environment of a ****-star hotel, learn all about wine with an expert sommelier or oenologist. This wine tasting session will let you appreciate some of the most traditional, exquisite or unusual wines, depending on the session you decide to attend.

Course of the experience : wine tasting in France (1 day)

The wine tasting session is divided in two sessions, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. (2h30 in the morning and 2h30 in the afternoon).
You will arrive on site and will be welcomed by the professional dispensing the wine tasting session: expert, sommelier, or oenologist.
Method: the wine tasting is done in a friendly way and favours the exchanges between all participants and the professional. The session includes both theory and tasting.
12 wines are tasted per session. These wines are chosen for their uniqueness depending on the session you attend.
All is done for your knowledge and the experience: you will receive a pack with detailed notes of the session as well as a tasting book, the list of the wines tasted, INAO glasses to get the right tools to taste.

2 days of initiation to wine tasting are proposed to you :

Day 1 :
First part : how to taste wine. Interpret the colour of wine, find its aromas and assess the type, the complexity and the elegance. The tastes will deep you in its equilibrium and finally its length in mouth will allow you to assess its quality. You could use this method every day then.
Second part : essential notions of wine elaboration, from vine, to wine. How the different types and styles of wine are made ? You will approach all the processes of big wine varieties. Thus, you will understand the wine-producer’s work and his impact on the quality of the wine.

Day 2 :
Aim of this day : understand how French vineyard is made and appreciate it in its diversity. This day will lead you to elaborate a simple and organized synthesis of the whole regions and vines of France.
First part : Alsace, Loire Valley, Burgundy.
Second part : Rhone Valley, Languedoc, West-South, Bordeaux…
